Nikolai Glavyuk - painter
(1952—1995)
Nikolai was one of very few self-taught painters who found
their way to recognition and respect just doing what he loved
most - painting and doing it from the bottom of his heart.
His friend and fellow painter Alisher Hamidov recalls: "I
just graduated from the art college and was about to be introduced
to who I was told was "a self-taught genius". When
I saw his work, I felt envy and excitement at the same time:
Glavyuk was unbelievable! I could not believe he never studied
art like many of us did. His natural talent was so obvious and
I am happy we became friends."
Nikolai started painting in mid-70s and he frequently participated
in regional and, later, national exhibitions. He died young
and never had a chance to show his work abroad. We are proud
and excited to finally be able to introduce Nikolai Glavyuk
to the art connoisseurs of the world.
