Lev Snegirev - painter
(b. 1931 in Margilan)
Lev graduated from the Moscow Art School
"In Memoriam 1905" and moved back to Margilan shortly after that in
1963. While he studied in Moscow, among his fellow
students were now famous Soviet nonconformists Dmitry
Plavinsky, Anatoly Zverev, Alexei Tyapushkin, Boris Sveshnikov, and
Nikonov brothers.
He lived and worked in Fergana from 1972 to 1991
when he decided to move to Russia. Lev now lives and works in
Nelidovo.
His works are in permanent collections of many
museums, including the National Museum of art in Nukus, The State
Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow. The latter hosted a dedicated
exhibition for Lev Snegirev in March-April of 2011. Click here
