Anatoly Kapzan - sculptor, painter
(1911—1983)
Anatoly was born in Ukraine, where he graduated from the Kharkov
Academy of Arts in the early 30s.
He was a WWII veteran when he moved to Fergana after the war
was over. In Fergana he met his future wife, settled down and
worked as a sculptor and teacher of arts in a local community
center. Anatoly was a father of talented kids: both his daughters,
Lubov and Nadejda, as well as his son Gregory, are well known
painters.
A few of his sculptures became monuments and were scattered
around the city, in parks and squares. Mostly all are now destroyed,
but his son Gregory preserved a substantial part of the artistic
heritage and you can see a few of Anatoly's drawings and sketches
here.
We are currently looking for old photos of his sculptures and,
if found, will proudly display them on Fergart.com.
